Our FAQs

We get asked many questions during our first conversations with clients and customers. Some questions are very common.

We have put a list of these ‘FAQs’ together to help you out prior to arranging an event with you.

What is a Fun Casino?

A fun casino is basically soft play for adults. We offer mobile casino tables to bring to a venue of your choice. You then receive fun money to exchange at whichever table you’d like. At this point you bet and play as you would in a real casino.

Is it real money?
In the UK gambling is governed by the gambling commission who enforce the 2005 Gambling act. Fun casinos do not handle any cash over the tables as they would require licences, security & CCTV to operate. For this reason you can provide a prize for whoever makes the most money.
I’ve never been in a casino, how do I play?
Fear not, all of the games we offer are easy to pick up and our fully trained croupiers will be able to guide you through the games. You’ll be a pro in no time. If you have played before then we are happy to offer advice on more advanced bets and strategies.
Is it just luck?
All games require an element of luck however there certainly is a good and bad way to play. Gambling strategy is a very complex thing but a decent knowledge of the games is definitely of benefit.
Does that affect the fun?
Definitely not, the thrill of the bet still remains. Players can express their competitive nature in fact we encourage friendly banter around the tables.
Are kids allowed to play?
We encourage players of all age to participate, however we do ask younger players to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
How long do we play for?
Gaming time is for up to 3 hours and will largely depend on the event. For example at a wedding where there is a lot of things going on we’d suggest that between 2 and 2.5 hours would be sufficient. If the Fun Casino is the main event then you may like to play for the full 3 hours.
How many tables should I hire?
As a rule we’d suggest that 1 table per 50 guests is sufficient. This will depend largely on what type of event you are having? If the casino is the main source of entertainment then please consider that 1 Roulette table & 1 Blackjack table will allow 16 players at any one time.

Please note – We will always advise you on table quantities and wouldn’t provide extra games if they weren’t required.

What happens if I want to leave the table?
All of our gaming tables come complete with cheques, just ask the croupier if you’d like to ‘Cash Out’ and they will write a cheque which you can use later.
Can I take these chips to a different table?
Gaming chips are allocated to specific games. A Roulette table uses ‘Colour Chips’ at the table minimum. Each player is assigned a different colour which they must ‘Cash In’ If they want to leave the table. All other tables use ‘Cash Chips’, each colour is a different denomination. These must also stay on the tables so that there is enough for all those wanting to play.
Have you worked in a real casino?
At Play, Learn, Hire we only ever use fully trained croupiers. Even though the games are relatively straightforward to learn, a professional croupier is trained to pace the game according to the level of the action. They will also provide a fun and efficient gaming experience for your guests.

Please Note – If considering other casino companies then please be aware that others may not use professional croupiers. Although this may not affect things in 1 respect it will most definitely affect the efficiency of the games meaning less spins/ hands per session resulting in less value for money for the client.

How big are the tables?
As a rough guide the Roulette table is approximately 8ft by 3ft, the card tables and Wheel of Fortune are around 6ft by 3ft, Dice & Texas Hold Em are around 8ft by 4 ft. Our tables have appeared everywhere from private residencies and decked areas to warehouses and festival fields.
Jamie, where have you worked?
With over 20 years of casino experience I have worked for some of the worlds largest companies including; London Clubs, Aspers and Royal Caribbean.
Jamie, was it difficult to learn the games?
Like anything, repetition is what makes the dealing aspect look easy. For me the most difficult parts in the beginning were spinning the ball and learning the 17 times table.
Jamie, what's the biggest bet you’ve seen?
With the casinos it was a normal occurrence to see some of the high rollers to be gambling with thousands of pounds at once. In my early career I remember 1 gentleman betting pink chips which were £100 each. He laid about 12 on the Roulette table. The winning number on that occasion was 27 Red and his payout was 123 pieces with a cash value of £12,300.
